My Story
Steve Cornell is an architect and preservationist trained at the University of Virginia, where he earned a Master of Architecture, a Master of Architectural History, and a Certificate in Historic Preservation. For more than two decades, he has worked throughout Utah’s Wasatch Front and beyond, leading projects that range from sensitive restorations and adaptive reuse to infill additions within historic districts. His experience includes National Register nominations, Federal Historic Tax Credit applications, Section 106 review, and cultural resource surveys. Steve’s work bridges preservation and contemporary design, using existing buildings and infrastructure to reinforce a sense of place, strengthen communities, and create compelling new spaces. He is the co-author of Salt Lake City’s Modern Architecture.
